Providence

I hide in your shadow,
cowering from the light,
you don’t notice me,
you rule the earth,
sinners dying as you pass,
a God some said,
they prayed for forgiveness,
but still ran from your path.
You don’t know I’m here,
for you would have taken me moons ago,
you would have throttled my neck,
with your gruesome,
gnarled hands,
and I would have laid in your wake,
in cold blood,
along with the others.
